Personnel Actions - Hire Worker - Get Manager approval

Hello, community,

I'm trying to adopt the Personnel Actions and the Hire worker workflow.

My purpose is that after the new worker is hired, the manager must approve the work item. The manager must be determined by the position, which is reported to the workers.

At this moment, the workflow setup is set and gets the error. Perhaps my hierarchy selection is wrong?

On the other hand, I could do all the approvals in the PowerAutomate, but I can't find the information on how to assign the task in D365 for the manager so that he could see the task in the D365 environment.

Does reports to position is given for newly hired employees position?

Hi, yes, the position is set up when filling out the new worker form.

I think in the workflow configuration you have given start from as "Workflow originator".

So its looking for reports to position who submitted the workflow instead of hired worker reporting to.

Since you are the workflow submitting user and you don't have reports to position assigned its throwing error.

Okay, so how do You think I should set up the workflow? I guess, I can't say to workflow, that you start the hierarchy from the new employee, not the employee who started the workflow?

Yes you are right. There is only two option available either "Workflow originator" or "Workflow owner".

Strange. I guess, the personnel action and Hire worker workflow must be built with the new worker manager approval, because why HR person manager should approving other colleagues..

Okey, how you're solving this situation? How do You enable the manager's approval for other persons?

Hi Mantas,

Just like yourself and Girish had mentioned, the submitter can either be "Workflow originator" or "Workflow owner". You might find a way to route the workflow to a particular line manager using conditions. You can use things like Job or department to route the approval.

Hey, thanks for the option!

I quickly tried and If I'm right - do I need to manually add as many conditions as many I have got departments?

I have 15 departments, so do I need to add the same or fewer (depending) conditions?
