WIP and flushing methods

Hi again!

It seems I dont get it straight! I want to achieve is that when I release the Prod. Order  the raw materials that are used to produce the final item are taken out of the bin where they are and booked in the WIP account , and perhaps also in Prod.Order.Line (in the item card) if thats possible. But what it keeps happening is that also the final item appears if it was already produced and available in the inventory , I would ike this to happen only when I finish the order.
Whats the flushing coombination appropiate to achieve that? I keep playing with them but it doesnt work.

Please note that Im not using require picks or putaways in my warehouse configuration, just bin mandatory and require shipment and recieve.

Thanks boys!

    Hi,

You can use Forward flushing methods for components Item lines. This way, when you refresh the production order, system will pass the consumption entries (Into WIP account). I think, you have already tried this scenario before.

Further to that you can use the Flushing method as Backward for Finished product Item.

In this case, system will pass the Output Entries when you change the production order status to Finished

    Hope this helps.

Thanks again Vishal ;) one last thing, funny enough, and maybe thats related to the whole flushing method, not sure yet, but when im in the release production order window and I release the order I get a pop up message stating that an item ( from the BOM) is missing, nevertheless in the same window, if I click on  the planning icon then order planning, it states that all items are avaliable so no planning lines are created. Why this contradiction?

    Hi,

Actually, when you use forward flushing method for components items, it is assumed that you have the item inventory available in the system and hence it would consumed the inventory.

In your scenario, you are using Forward flushing method for components and you do not have the Item Inventory available. In this case, system would not be able to refresh the production order. Hence you would not have any item available in Prod. Order Component table.  So, if you do not have Items in Prod. Order Component Table, Order Planning would not give you any suggestion for this particular order.

So, if you do not have Item Inventory available, please do not use Forward Flushing Method.

Just in case, If you just want to check Order Planning feature with Forward Flushing Method, you may manually add few items in Prod. Order Component Lines and then check Order Planning. It would work.

    Hope it helps.

oh ok, mmm , I sort of expected anyway a pop up message saying: hey! you dont have that in inventory , it cant be flushed forwared so you need to order it first. Thanks!

    Yea.. That is true.

Actually system is trying to post the consumption directly and hence showing the standard error message of Inventory not available..

You may do the small customization, if absolutely needed.
