URGENT - our monthly depreciation process (depreciating all assets in a book) is no longer pulling in all the assets to depreciate. It pulled in only a few assets this month so we are significantly understating depreciation. What should we do?
URGENT - our monthly depreciation process (depreciating all assets in a book) is no longer pulling in all the assets to depreciate. It pulled in only a few assets this month so we are significantly understating depreciation. What should we do?
to start on this one.
1) Go to Cards>Fixed Assets>Book.
2) Select one of the asset\book records that you are not getting depreciation on.
3) What is the depreciated to date? How much remaining life is left?
If you see a distribution button in the asset\book window instead of a ITC\Cost adjustment button than someone may have deleted the book.
If the depreciated to date is at or after the date you are depreciating to, then it was inadvertently depreciated at some point or the asset did not fail during the last depreciation run. If there is no remaining life\ net book value than what you are seeing is as expected.
If it is not depreciated to the date you are trying to depreciate to, was an error encountered while running depreciation? Check the FA00199 and look to see if you have any errors around the time that you tried to depreciate last . Finally if there was a general interruption, you can often just run the depreciation process again to the same date. If this is the case, the depreciation button will often be greyed out (and you can use the below article to fix the depreciation button being greyed out).
