sales line data entities (SalesOrderLineV2Entity)

Hi All,

We recently applied V37 of D365FO. After doing so we had some issues with data entities. They were not available on the forms under the /Open in Excel/ option. I Truncated the entity list and refreshed it again. Most was OK after that, but I have a persistent issue on the sales order form. The /Sales order lines V2 (SalesOrderLineV2Entity)/ is not available. In stead I see a lot of invoice related data entities here, which I also strikes me as odd... Why would invoice entities show up on the sales table form ? Can't remember this being the case in previous versions.

There are no customizations on this data entity.

When I run it from Excel (using the D365FO add-in), I do see the entity and I can use it to pull data from Dynamics. But I cannot use it to upload data; The publish button is greyed out.

This issue occurs in all environments in exactly the same way.

I checked google and MS for possible changes in these data entities with V37, but can't find anything.

Anyone else sees this behaviour ? Any idea where I should start finding the cause of this ?

Thanks for taking the time to read this !

Cheers,
Gerard

    Hi,
Can you try using a different user, such as a system administrator? Check whether there is a permission issue. Is it possible that you miss the correct role/user right? I would expect that given that you see the button but cannot use it. Can other users / colleagues that have more and/or different user roles and right see an active button?
    Best regards,
    Kevin

    Hy,
what do you want to achieve?
The salesOrderLineVx has dependencies on SalesOrderHeaderVx entity and to more than 15 other tables.
So you cannot create a new sales order within the SalesOrderLineEntity itself as at least a SalesOrder is needed before.

Did you try to use SalesOrderHeaderAndLines entity? This works for me (10.0.35) to edit a songle SO to add and remove lines.

    Herzliche Grüße / kind regards,

    Hi Andreas and Kevin,

    Thanks for your answers.

I'm fully aware of the dependencies etc. I work a lot with data entities. Also have a lot of expirience in extending them and create new ones. And, as stated, the SalesOrderLineV2Entity does not contain any customizations. It does just not show up on the salesTable form (open in excel). I do see the sales order headers V3, but also for example sales invoice lines which is odd.

When I use the entity directly from Excel, I can pull the sales lines, but I cannot publish changes. I do not try to create a new sales header. just modify existing sales lines.

The SalesOrderHeaderAndLines entity is also no longer available on the salesTable form under 'open in excel'. I used this one in V35 as well.

I'm Systen Admin with no other roles. And in V35 I used this entity a lot. The problem started when we upgraded to V37.

Maybe you have some other thoughts ?

    Cheers,
    Gerard

FYI: I created a ticket at Microsoft and report back when I get a solution from them.

There are more issues with the entities; All entities are read only when using the Excel add-in.

No clear answer from Microsoft why the invoice entities show up on the sales table form. I leave it for now as I can use the entity directly from Excel.

The reason I could not use the publish button (greyed out) was that not all Key fields were in the selected Fields list in Excel. Not only on this entity, but also on other entities. You can recognize these key fields by the Key-icon next to the field name. This one still puzzles me. I'm convinced that before the V37 I often did not include all key fields like dataAreaId when I used the data entities (and I use them a lot). Microsoft clearly states that this is not a V37 change. Anyway: the solution is to add these key fields in the selected fields list.

    Thanks,
    Gerard

    Hi Gerard,

Did you get a chance to get the Issue Search piece in Dynamics Lifecycle Services> There is a KB Article that states that the Office add-in template has been deprecated in D365 FO for Sales Order Line V2 entity.

If you don't have access to the KB Article, here is a glimpse of the KB Article.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Navneeth,

No; I did not see this one, so thanks a lot for pointing this out to me ! I will keep an eye on this issue.

    Cheers,
    Gerard
