fulfill phantom on picklist

Hello,

I am wondering and sorry for the hopefully basic question as I am in IT not processing, about an issue with fulfilling our MO.  It seems the picklist has 3 items on it, 2 regular and 1 phantom.  The regulars work fine but the phantom doesnt allow me to fulfill it through component transaction entry (it doesnt show up there).  This item has enough stock to fulfill it but it is like it is not showing as being required.  If this makes sense there is no equal sign with the line through it on the picklist so it is like it thinks it is issued? but shows N/A as the status.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Rick

Phantoms cannot be fulfilled.  They are basically an invisible level if that makes sense.   This is a tricky situation and has to be handled carefully from a business process perspective.  I wish there was a flag to determine at the MO level when to treat as a phantom and when not.  That said, to resolve your problem, you will need to BOM Category option on the BOM entry window, then go to the MO and build the picklist again.   The BOM category will need to be flipped back and forth depending on if you need to fulfill it.  It is simpler, with regard to phantoms, to leave it as a phantom and not have any inventory or leave it as regular and do the extra MO (can use Quick MO to save time)  to make it.
