Hi, Does Ax has any existing method through which I can find or create a ledger dimension (Int64) by passing a segmented string of dimension values?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

is your question about AX2012 or Dynamics 365 for Finance?

Where exactly do you need it? Where does the string come from? Is it on a form? In data entity? Somewhere else?

    Hi Nishant,

Take a look at LedgerAccountDimensionResolver class.

I am importing a file using a custom data entity. The file to be imported contains the account string, and the account string is an unmapped string field in data entity.

For data entities you don't need to do any x++ development to add support for dimensions.
First of all, you must configure General ledger - Chart of accounts - Dimensions - Financial dimension configuration for integrating applications, to define the contents of your dimension string. Then, add DimensionCombinationEntity as a data source for your entity
You can use LedgerJournalLineEntity as an example.

I am aware of this but I am bound to look for the other way round. I am importing a Free text invoice line, where only a default account (Main Account) can be mapped as ledger dimension. Now I am getting a complete account string from external system, from which I have to extract main account for ledger dimension field of Free text invoice line and default dimension for the free text invoice line default dimension. So if there is any such method which can given me ledger dimension from a ledger account string, that will be very helpful.
