Add leads to segment

Hi everyone -

We updated to Wave 2 and I am not sure if it's related or may be there is a work around.

We created marketing Emails and would like to send to leads (not contacts) as we use contacts for customer service and accounts. Is it possible?

We tried following this link but we cannot delete the default contact group and if we add another one, it default to contacts only.

How can Marketing app be used for lead scoring when we cannot add leads to customer journey.

Thanks.

    RE: Add leads to segment

    Hi Mouda,

As doc mentioned, there is an exsiting flag(two oprion field) called marketingonly in lead entity, if we qualify a lead, a workflow will executed to create a contact record from this lead, and by default this field is set to false

You can find this flag in contact form > Details tab > Marketing section:

You can even add this flag to any view of your contact to get a clear overall view:

And when you create a contact directly in marketing module, just set this field to Yes.

What's more, there is another helpful field called Originating Lead, same in Details > MARKETING, this field will only be populated when the contact was qualified from lead (actually there is still a third identity/flag field called Lead Source, by default is not visible on form, we could add it on contact form manually)

Then you can filtered out two type contacts and might not need a lead based segment.

Finally, a workflow would be helpful for you to set interested/not interested leads, run them with your own business requirement.

    Regards,

    Clofly.

    RE: Add leads to segment

    Hello Mouda,

One can use the marketingonly flag on the contact entity to differentiate the automatically generated (marketing-only) contacts from other types of contacts as detailed here . if the lead is no longer interested and any custom disqualification process is triggered then a workflow can be written to also delete the contact associated with that lead if it wasn't a qualified contact and only used for internal marketing based on marketingonly flag usage

    Thanks and best regards

    RE: Add leads to segment

    Thanks Clofly -

We are worried about having clutter in contacts.

From my understanding we have to qualify the lead to create a contact for them. what if we the lead/contact is no longer interested and we need to unqualify?

I guess i am seeking best approach.

    Thanks.

    RE: Add leads to segment

    Hi Mouda,

As the tutorial said, it will finally generate associated contact record for each lead(or it can be said that we use these contacts to represent our leads), and our final receipents are still contacts, customer journey's final target should be contact and we couldn't change it, it is by design.

In wave 2 release, Segment building UI has changed.

if you want to build a segment based on lead records, you should select Firmographic menu:

and find Lead(Lead -> Contact(Parent Contact for lead)) relationship in drop-down list
