Setting up trade agreements

Hi,

We use trade agreements to set up price break prices on items that we regularly purchase, and it works well.

However, I want to apply trade agreement pricing to another range of items and I cannot seem to get it to work.

Prices from the supplier are given to us based on length and order qty. For example items that are 501-1000mm long are £10 each for 10+ £9 for 20+ and £8 for 30+. Items that are 1001-1500mm long are £15 each for 10+ £14 for 20+ and £13 for 30+. And so on. We have about 20 different length ranges.

Each item has a unique part ID and would fall into one of the length ranges.

I can set up trade agreements for each item based on quantity, but we have a lot of items and more are added all the time so this isn't really an option.

I would like to create groups for each length range that have the various price breaks set up in a trade agreement. I would then like to assign a group to each item so that the item is linked to the overall trade agreement for that group. When pricing is revised at the end of the year I would then only have to update the trade agreements for the 20 groups rather for each item.

Frustratingly, the price breaks are not based on a fixed discount amount or percentage so I cannot use a line discount trade agreement. I have tried setting up price/discount groups but I end up going round in circles!

We are using AX2012R3.

I do not know if AX can do what I want, or if I am not doing things correctly so any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Andy

I had understood from the question that the requirement is for a common volume based %  discount across a group of items.

    Hi,

You can't use Item price groups for pricing groups of items. If you look closely

    • there is no 'Price group' on the item; only discount groups
    • there is no 'Price group' at Procurement -> Setup -> Price/discount -> Item discount groups
    • no way to enable 'Item group' or 'All items' on the 'Price' tab at Procurement -> Setup -> Price/discount -> Activate price/discount.

If all of the items which fall into the '501-1000mm long' group are all priced at '£10 each for 10+ £9 for 20+ and £8 for 30+', then you could do it by making them one item with different product variants.

Variants is the obvious approach but the item and bom changes may be too many now for you to do this.

Trade agreements can be set up for groups of items

To create an Item (Product) group, navigate to:

Inventory and warehouse management > setup > price/discount > item discount group

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. We don't use product masters, only products and released products - which may explain the problems I'm having!

I will have a test to see if your suggestion works

    Thanks again

You should try to create a Item master according to Item length means Item of 501-1000 mm long and Item of 1001-1500 mm should be different. Create and assign item discount group according to length then use trade agreement.

    Hi Andy,

As it sounds this item is not configured as a ProductMaster. It does not have these sizes specified in its variants. My approach would be using a ProductMaster instead and using these 20 sizes as its size variants. Then use a product dimension group that lets size-based purchase pricing. Then create proper trade agreements.
