Path Does Not Errors when running Dynamics as a Remote Desktop Application

Posted on by 225

We are setting up Dynamics GP Ver 18.2.1100 on a Windows Remote Desktop Server.  When running Dynamics as a Remote Desktop Application on a workstation we receive errors such as the following:

An open operation on table ‘MAP_UpgradeLog_Temp’ failed because the path does not exist.

An open operation on table ‘PA_POP_Temp’ failed because the path does not exist.

We also receive “path does not exist” errors on several other files.

These errors do not occur when running Dynamics directly on the Remote Desktop Server.

Any advice on how to correct these errors?

    Hello JEK,

Those errors point to an issue getting to the %TEMP% directory. Usually this will occur if users don't have permissions to write there, or if there is something wrong with the variable. More items to look into (and a better review of how this all works) can be found here:

As you are on a TS environment, this can lead to more odd issues. I would start with checking how you are setup for terminal servers, specific to where temp files as going to be stored. Make sure users have full access to the %TEMP% directory on both the local workstation, and the terminal server.

    Hi,

it's hard to tell without knowing more details about how you did the setup of the GP Client on the terminal server side.. Also you don't say if you have any customized Forms or Reports in GP, that might require the client to access a custom REPORTS.DIC or FORMS.DIC, which usually would be placed on a shared network folder..

For GP client setup in TS & Citrix environments, please read on here : dyngpgeek.wordpress.com/.../
