I would like to import 80k invoices at month to A/R. Would the amount of data slow down the performance of GP? Does GP has a recommendation regarding number of transactions?

Hi,
GP will handle this fine. I've imported far more than this from a processing gateway monthly, and the performance was fine. Not sure what your integration method is, but you should probably want to use e-connect over the standard integration manager connectors if using Integration Manager.
Depending on the complexity of your invoices, you should be able to see import speeds of 12-20 docs a second using Integration Manager, maybe better. That should be about 1-2 hours worth of processing through the integration utility. If you are using a custom utility, you could even get better speeds too.
I agree with Joshua. I've developed imports for a client with nearly a million inventory items that processes over 1.5 million SOP invoices a year, 500,000 AP transactions a year, and 500,000 PO Receipts a year.
The problems isn't so much your monthly import volume (except for the time it takes to post)--it's the amount of historical data that can build up after several years of high volume imports. If your database grows to several hundred gigabytes, things like Inquiries or historical reports will definitely start to take longer. Clients with really large databases sometimes implement a data archiving solution to pull that old historical data out of their main company DB to improve performance.
