I have created an Aggreaged Measures and Dimensions in DevBox. After EntityStore refresh, i have faced the InMemory Views and tables in AxDW. Then When we open that objects in Power BI environment we could not see the Aggregated Measures and Dimension hierarchies. Power BI decided the aggregated fields automatically. For instance, RecIds or Foreign Keys have set as aggreaged field although we didn't defined in Aggregated measures.
Answering your screehshot in the comment.
Those are the fields that belong to the date dimension table. BIDateDimension table in D365FO.
with DB sync on Dev, the aggregated entities should have created the structure and with
entity refresh data also should have flown.
before checking in PowerBi, could possibly check directly in SQL for AXDW structure and data
In this case, How can we bring the "Date_\YearHalfYearQuarterMonthTenDaysDate" hierarchy in the Power BI Desktop. Because there is no structure or model in the AxDW. When we select "AxDW.dbo.RetailSales_Date_" view into Power BI Desktop with DirectQuery mode, Power BI could not solve the hierarchies. What is the missing part?
You need to try and re-run the full reset batch job (Deploy measures) batch job in Finance and Operations (if you haven't run this step). The other issue with the PowerBI reporting piece is we can't leverage the time intelligence capabilities available in PowerBI. The time intelligence capabilities can be addressed using measures in PowerBI to calculate the YTD, MTD etc. The system tends to add the Dimension hierarchy relations in the measure as calculated fields, hence you need to add them as fields in the Aggregate measure.
Looks like you are trying to get weekly data or montly data. Had a similar problem in a health-care project.
The ideal approach is to use Fiscal Calendar View or Fiscal Calendar Sequence View that contributes to the First Date of Month, Last Date of Month fields and similarly, first date of year and last date of the year fields. I can send you the exact fields and how to structure the data to get the time intelligence capabilities working in FinOps. We need to make the first date and last date of a month and a financial year available as columns in the Aggregate measures and relate the entity with the dimension hierarchy like BI_Date and then validate against MAX and MIN functions to achieve the desired result.
Time intelligence capabilities can only be leveraged through DAX or M when it comes to Finance and Operations data entities.
