AX 2012 R2 on SQL 2012 R2?

We are deploying AX 2012 R2 in the coming months and are currently in the process of purchasing the hardware and software.  MS just released SQL 2014 and we are forced to purchase the latest version from our vendor with downgrade rights back to one previous version, which in this case is SQL 2012 R2.  The system requirements for AX 2012 R2 indicate that SQL 2012 is supported, but there is no mention of SQL 2012 R2 in any of the update releases.  Can anyone confirm if this is supported?  Is it likely that AX 2012 R3 will support this version of SQL since it has been out for almost a year?

    Ok, so there is no SQL 2012 R2. There is only SQL 2012 SP1 - which is compatible with AX:

    Compatibility with AX 2012 (as of CU5 for RTM/FPK and CU1 for R2):

    R2 is definitely supported, I'd have to look for the official announcement of that. Since R3 will be released after SQL 2014 is released, I'm expected it will support SQL 2014 from the get-go, but that is speculation on my part.
