Run Flow button in Business Process Flow

Hi All,
 
I have a BPF which have a step where the user must execute a flow, there is a button Run Flow by default placed by the system, however, what i noticed is that the user can start this process even when the stage is not active. I'm trying to avoid this situation where users are triggering the process flow outside of the stage context. Can i somehow hide/lock/disable Run Flow button or lock/hide the stage so nothing can be edited until you are on this stage?
