How to fill a mandatory field with autonum for recordings already created where it's empty ?

Posted on by 188
We have some contacts missing the msdyn_partynumber value. It's a mandatory field, with autonumber. I don't know why some are empty, and most importantly, I don't know how to fix them. Is there any way to have this value auto generated for existing contacts? Thanks for any help ! :)

How to fill a mandatory field with autonum for recordings already created where it's empty ?
    Hello FrancoisT,

as you mentioned in the post, the field msdyn_partynumber comes from the dual write integration between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps and Customer Engagement Apps. The field "PARTYNUMBER" in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is in this case mapped with the field "msdyn_partynumber" in the Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Apps. The mapping type for this relation is set from Microsoft to " = " or " is " by default what means that the value in the Dynamics 365 CE field is the same value as in the Dynamics 365 FO App, depending on the set synchronization (here: Bidirectional).

There are more reasons possible why the field "msdyn_partynumber" is empty after a successful synchronization of the parties in Dynamics 365 CE. At first glance is to figure out if the field "PARTYNUMBER" is filled in the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps - if there is no value in FO for that contacts available there can't be a value inside CE. Another point would be to check if the dual write setup went completely successful and all settings are setup correct.

Anyway, it is not recommended to change msdyn_fields manually as they are system related/integrated by design and in a lot of cases responsible for relationships or functions what are deep integrated in the Dynamics 365 by design processes.

Do you have more specific information available e.g. if there are contacts missing, too or is it just about missing field values?

    Rg,

    Alexander

*Due to the complex and different possibilities of deploying Dynamics 365 I highly recommend not to setup the application without some expert/partner or support. (For more information contact me under anassl@inno-solutions.info or visit www.inno-solutions.de)

This file is created by DualWrite when you connect the CRM to the ERP. So we already have this field, it's autonum format, and mandatory. I don't need to create it.

But some contacts don't have a value in this field, I can't edit the field and I don't know how to fill it. Is there any way to do that ? How to fix an empty autonum field that is empty after the recording creation ?

    Hi,

I am using the Sales trial version.
There is no msdyn_partynumber field in the contact entity.

You can create Autonumber columns to number the records.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
