Deploy ISV solution to another cloud Dev enviornment as a deployable package

Hi All,

we have a question regarding if we have an ISV solution(model) in isv layer, that we do not want to customize above it, can we apply this isv model through LCS on cloud Dev enviornment then create a new model in dev and reference it to this existing isv non-editable solution. will this work ? or i need to export it as .axmodel and import to the new envionrment.

thank you,

I have the same question (0)

You cannot apply a model via LCS. You can apply a deployable package. Either model or package can be added to DevOps and applied that way around.

I think this articles gives should give you a good idea about the options (none of them involves export as .axmodel): docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-runtime-packages

    Hi Mohammad Deeb,

If you don't have this model imported into any Dev environment as yet, you should first import the model  into your Cloud Dev using the axmodel file. You can then include this in your Azure DevOps code repository and create the new dev model referencing this isv package. This way you can sync the other Dev environments at a later time so that they also have this isv model and you wouldn't need to worry about compile issues while generating deployment packages for other environments in the future.

    Thank you Palle,

yes i meant deployable package that host this isv third party model, but my question is can i reference new custom model to this isv model that is applied through deployable package in Dev and applied as ax.model.

our aim is to build another model on top of this isv model without having the sourcecode of this isv.

    Thank you,

    Hi Mohammad,

You can indeed create a new model and reference the model if you don't have the source code. It will work. Debugging will be less convenient as you are not able to check the inside code of the ISV.
