Cannot see the trashcan icon on a record within a many-to-many subgrid

Posted on by 35

Hello,

Here is the setup:

Dynamics 365 CRM 9 onprem, and logged in as System Administrator. Also using default web interface (not UUI).

I have a custom entity with a many-many relationship with OOB Contacts:

I put a contacts subgrid onto my custom entity form. I made sure to show 'related records' and 'contacts'

I can add a contact no problem to the subgrid by clicking the plus icon.

However I do not see the trash can icon when I hover over a record to remove it from the subgrid.

My current work around is to click on the associated records view, click the same record and then click the remove button above the subgrid. This is cumbersome and not what the users want.

I would also like to mention that I have created many to many relationships between custom entities and I can see the trash can icon without issue. Is there something special with the OOB Contact entity?

And remember.. I have system administrator rights so I assume permissions are not the problem. This is making my brain hurt! Any insight would be awesome. Thank you.

EDIT: I also created another many to many relationship to a different entity... placed a subgrid down on the same form and the trashcan shows up no problem. It appears to be something specifically related to the OOB Contact entity.
