How do I add a Documents Tab?

What's the Difference between the Files and Documents Tab in an entity form?

Will one affect my storage capabilities more than the other? Does only one link to SharePoint?

Thank you!

Do you have any video further information on this? These are helpful but to confirm: Are Documents Tab linked to Sharepoint and File is not? Torrado

    Hello,

I think that both will be linked to SharePoint when enabling the connection.

You can test that using a trial environment, enabling SharePoint integration and checking what happens with the Files and Documents uploaded.

    Hope this helps you.

    Hi mfinch,

There is no difference between the Files and Documents Tab, both of them link to SharePoint.

By default, only Account, Contact, Lead and Opportunity forms have Files tab, you can refer to this document to add Files tab for other entities' forms.

    Hi mfinch,

You can follow below blog how to add document tab

    https://mscrmonline.wordpress.com/2021/03/05/how-to-add-sharepoint-document-files-tab-to-a-dynamics-365-custom-table-entity-main-form/

By default, only Account, Contact, Lead and Opportunity forms have Files tab as I have shown in below snapshot for a vanilla instance

As per my understanding your concern is regarding storage so can I check you can use this File tab to map to share point and store your documents if there is no business requirement for different document tab.

As far as storage space is concern there is no difference all will go to same SharePoint storage if you have one SharePoint location.

    Thanks,

    Goloknath
