Inventory Costing

we have implemented weighted average by date on stock but system is keeping values for zero stock items.

ALmost for all items system is keeping some value when stock level is zero.

I have only one receipt, unable to understand why system is taking different cost for issue transactions.

    Hi Naveed Nawaz,

Have you run an inventory close/recalculation for those items?

This should clean the remaining cost amounts.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Recalculation/ closing process runs each month but these transactions remain same.

Many items are behaving same. on test environment i changed the valuation method from WA by date to WA then system removes the difference (For few items).

    Hi Naveed,

If the WA method removes the difference then also the WA-date method should remove it, it might just require more time. Do you only have a handful of items that are affected or are almost all of the items affected? If you only have a handful, try posting an inventory counting Journal with a quantity of 0 to see if this removes the variance quickly. Would be great if you could test in a demo environment and keep us updated.

    Thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

Is that is only a subset of the transactions for the item? How did you decide which transactions to use?

For few items this workaround works, rest are same.We upgraded AX 2009 to 2012 and after that on R3.  there few transaction which lye in between upgradation. might be this is the reason. i am still working on it. Hopefully will get something on ti.

    Fingers crossed

You could get this problem if you are looking at the transactions incorrectly. Is this a full list of transactions for the item? I'm thinking it is not, because the first transaction is a transfer and the item must have been transferred from somewhere.
