Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry

Hi Friends,

Based on the below link I sort my financial dimensions at the form level:

But when I am trying to create the GL entry, again my dimensions are sorting alphabetical order, I believe based on the Segments sequence in Accounting Structure sequence of  dimensions are coming in GL entry, if I add the Financial dimensions in the Account Structure, as Segments in the sequence I want then I am seeing extra hyphens (-) for each segment and allow as blank, even where the dimensions are not set mandatory in Advance rules.

Please advise, thanks in advance

Regards,
Imran Ul Haq

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    Hi Andre/Kevin/Alireza,

    Thanks for your replies.

@Andre, I was thinking this as the last option as considering the structure based on the dimension which will give a big list of structures.

@Kevin, will try to explore this area.

@Alizera, Financial dimension integration framework is required for GL journal upload, as per my knowledge.

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    Hi,

The sequence of dimensions is typically determined by the segments defined in the Account Structure. If you want to have different dimension sequences and separators based on advanced rules without defining the segments in the Account Structure, it may require customization or development work.
One possible solution could be to create a custom form where you can define the desired dimension sequence and separator based on advanced rules. This custom form would override the default behavior of sorting dimensions alphabetically based on the segments in the Account Structure.
By implementing this custom form, you can have more control over the dimension sequence and separators, allowing you to post entries without including certain dimensions like Business Unit and Department for specific scenarios such as posting cash entries.

    Best regards,
    Kevin

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    HI Imran,

If you don't need financial dimensions for Cash, but you need dimensions for other main accounts, then you can setup multiple account structures. Per account structure you can setup the ranges of main accounts that should be linked to it. If you take a look at the standard demo data, then the USMF company has two account structures in use. One for balance accounts and one for P&L accounts.

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    Hi Imran,
You can define financial dimension sorting on "Financial dimension configuration for integrating applications" for dimension format type = Ledger dimension format

Regarding the dimension separation, like Andre is mentioned, account structure or combination with advanced rule is the enabler.

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    Hi Andre,

    Thanks for your reply.

is there a way that dimension sequences can be same as default dimension sequence and separator (required dimension) will come from the Advance rule, and i will not define the segments in the Account structure, by which the separator is coming.

Why I am looking for this solution is, consider in account structure I select the Business unit and department as segment, and i need to post the entry for Cash where i don't need the Business unit and department, but since i define these in account structure separators will come, which might confuse the user that they need to select the Business unit and department.

Financial Dimension sorting on the GL entry
    HI Imran,

The default financial dimensions and ledger financial dimensions for main accounts are behaving different. The trick in my blog is valid for the default dimensions only. For the general journal entry, the dimensions and their order are maintained via accounting structures. When you add financial dimensions on account structure, for each dimension separation, you will see indeed a separator which makes it visible to the user how many dimensions are available for that particular main account.
