Trying to import open sales orders into new Business Central install

Hi,

I have a new Business Central on-premise install, and I've imported all the static data using 'Rapid' Start, however when I try to import the open/released sales orders from the old system (NAV2009R2) they error because the orders have been released. I don't want to re-open them again as there are several thousand. If I turn off validation, the order headers go in with blank details. The order lines also won't import for the same reason.

I've also tried doing a straight SQL dump from one system to the other, which works on earlier versions but on the latest version it doesn't properly generate the dimensions, which means the orders won't post.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also any clues as to why RapidStart is sooooo slooooow? The SQL takes less than a second to load the tables, Rapidstart takes about 45 minutes just to load the data, even before the validation

So there is a function in the table that checks the status which is called in numerous fields. In the end I just edited this function so that it ignored the status. After the import was complete I re-enabled the function.

The XMLPort was helpful as when it does work, it's much quicker, but in reality it took all day to write as there are 400 fields in my table, and didn't actually make any difference because the table still wouldn't load because it still failed the validation, so if you're doing this infrequently, RapidStart would still be more efficient despite it's speed issues.

Thanks, I was trying to avoid an XMLPort as I've never done one and there are a LOT of fields! I'll give it a try today and report back.

Your best way is to create an xmlport and use that to import. The RapidStart does have performance issue.

You can create XMLPort to do the import  and build the logic as per your requirement.

You can import using rapid start and exclude the Status field , once you have imported then you can create simple xmlport with order no. and status field just to update the status
