Microsoft Dynamics NAV Licensing

Could anyone help me to understand MIcrosoft Dynamics NAV licensing?

I am trying to understand that can we use our Microsoft Dynamics NAV developer license to customize our client Dynamics NAV system as support after implementation.

To provide/implement custom solutions, you need a developer license (that you can obtain as a MS partner).

Regarding Visual Studio: YES, VS Professional (with MSDN) or Community Edition are all compliant.

Thank you. But need some clarification on below statement. If our developer is performing dev & test on Microsoft NAV and also providing custom solutions to our offshore clients, so what license we required for same to provide custom solution as support after implementation of MS Dynamics NAV, can we use Visual Studio Professional With MSDN subscription or free Community Edition? Is it compliant as per Microsoft?

Regarding Visual Studio, you can use the free Community Edition. This is enough for NAV (reporting and so on). A Visual Studio license is not mandatory.

For developing with the upcoming new platform (AL) you will need Visual Studio Code (free).

Thanks Stefano. So as a Microsoft Partner, we can use our Microsoft NAV developer License to provide custom solutions to our offshore clients.

Also, do we required Microsoft Visual Studio Enterprise with MSDN & Software Assurance License to provide custom solutions to our offshore clients? Is this license mandatory or we can use Visual Studio Professional with MSDN subscription?

Yes, a developer license can be use to customize NAV also afte the implementation stage. At customer site, you need to set the NAV service tier in order to use the customer’s license. For developing and support, you can change this license with yours and make support/customizations. Regarding licensing in general, the link above covers all.
