How does Apple iOS List Unsubscribe works with Dynamics 365 Marketing

Hello together,

I was wondering how the Apple iOS List Unsubscribe functionality works with Dynamics 365 Marketing.

When you open a newsletter email in the iOS Mail app and click the /Unsubscribe/ button in the message /This message is from a mailing list/, an email is sent to the sender and you are automatically removed from the mailing list.

Does the standard Dynamics 365 Marketing also provide this functionality? How exactly does this work in the background / technically when a customer will click the button?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards

    Hello Dengliang Li,

thank you very much for your answer.

The procedure you have shown is only the case when the customer clicks on the unsubscribe link, is redirected and makes the settings there.
What my question is about is the unsubscribe functionality in the iOS email app:

Here is an excerpt from the link in which the iOS functionality is described:
When you hit the unsubscribe button, what you’re actually doing is allowing the Mail app to send an email on your behalf from your email address to the specified mailing list’s unsubscribe email. This lets the mailing list service know you want to be removed, and you should stop receiving emails from the mailing list service once they receive your request.

How is this (automatically) processed in Dynamics 365 Marketing?

    Best regards

    Hi,

In Dynamics 365 marketing, it is divided into real-time email and outbound email.

In real-time email, when the customer clicks on the unsubscribe link it will redirect to the preference center.
In the preference center, the customer can click on the unsubscribe button, which will update the point of contact consent record for the email channel to Opted-out.
Therefore, the customer will no longer receive emails from marketing.

In outbound emails, the customer clicks on the unsubscribe link to be redirected to the Subscription Center.
In the Subscription Center, there is a "Do not send emails" checkbox.
When a customer selects this option, the Do Not Bulk Email flag is placed on their contact record and Customer Insights - Journey will never send any marketing emails to that contact.

I hope my answer is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
