Display Header on the First Page ONLY & Display Footer on the last page ONLY SSRS Report

ReportReport
Posted on by 895

Hi,

I am using AX 2012 R2 CU7.

I have a SSRS Report - PurchPurchaseOrder. Issue is when I am printing this report I am getting the Header on all the pages and even the footer on all the pages.

I have to use my Header and Footer section because of customizations done.

Now my query is, I just want that my header should be displayed ONLY on the first page and my footer should be displayed ONLY on the last page.

Can someone please help me with the above scenario.

Would appreciate for your help.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Muneeb

well we are talking about SSRS reports here, as Morphx reports are no more there and one of the shortcomings is that when we hide control by condition, it results in white space. This is not in our hands. so, as a result, technically you can hide display of header information on pages where pageNumber <> 1, but it will result in white space and your customer will say, why there are white spaces on every page. why my page is being wasted.

    Hi Sohaib,

    Thank you for the same.

Yes, I am talking about SSRS Report  as already mentioned.

Would appreciate if you can tell me how exactly this can be achieved?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

as I said, its POSSIBLE to hide controls such as textboxes, by condition, But that will result in white space on all pages.

There is NO SOLUTION for white space in header and footer of AX Flavored SSRS

so you may consider , two points, as alternative

    1) let your header things, be displayed inside body (at start of body); Thus header will not  be repeated, on pages other than page1. Remove actual page header

    2) for footer also , let it be displayed by end of all of body work. For footer it would not be a perfect solution but we have no more choice other than this, here in AX2012SSRS.

    Hi Sohaib,

    Thank you for the same.

I am running into a new issue, after making the changes around what you have suggested, I wanted to review it but I am unable to as the report is not getting deployed neither it is giving any error.

The report contains 3 designs, Report, ReportCZ, ReportHU. After making changes, I went to report server and deleted all the 3 designs and then I deployed the report from AOT as well as from Powershell, the designs ReportCZ and ReportHU are getting deployed on report server, however the design in which i made changes i.e. "Report" is NOT getting deployed on Report Server.

Can you please suggest what could be the issue. Why the design "Report" is not getting deployed. I have cross checked, all 3 designs are present in Visual Studio.

Can you please help me with your inputs.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

there can be many reasons for that.

As we go into AOT, right click any VS Project and select 'Edit'; Dynamics AX will launch VS with SSRS report. sometimes, it loads/open local report artifacts, which are not coming actually from AOT. usually local path is as below

    C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\Microsoft Dynamics AX\Dynamics AX Model Projects\

C drive might change, based on your installation and environment.

so 1st thing you should be doing probably is, right click VS project inside AOT, click EDIT, now don't trust any already opened report design. Just after loading of VS project, right click on Report inside solution explorer and open report.

Second point which you should make sure, that you are connected to right AOS, in case you have multiple AOS.

Third point give a try by restarting SSRS Service.

    Hi Sohaib,

    Thank you for the same.

I checked in my AOT, all the 3 designs exist and I even open up the report solution from AOT by saying "EDIT" on the Visual Studio Project. The Report opened up contains all the 3 designs in Visual Studio as were present in the AOT.

Now I went to Report Server and deleted all the 3 designs and then I deployed the Report from AOT & using powershell but in both the cases, the 2 report designs are getting deployed on the Report Server and 1 design is NOT getting deployed on the Report Server.

I even did a restart to Reporting Services and even deleted AUC files.

However, I am still facing this issue that my 1 of the 3 report designs is NOT getting deployed.

I am NOT sure what is causing this issue.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

well, sometimes, these kind of questions don't have any answer, because system is not in our hands and it can be ANYTHING, might be with cache or something else.

Anyway, is that a customized design or you are talking about standard Purchase Order Confirmation report which has there design (Report, ReportCZ, ReportHU)

Yeah I understand what you said, I am trying to do what ever I can for now but not getting anything.

Yes, I am talking about the standard PurchPurchaseOrder report having designs (Report, ReportCZ, ReportHU) as you mentioned above.

Quite possibly your PurchPurchaseOrder.Report design is marked for static deployment.  This means that each language/culture is deployed to its own subfolder with the label placeholders already resolved to their final values.

Check this under System administration> Setup> Business Intelligence> Reporting Services> Report deployment settings.

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you so much for your insight.

Yes, I did check out the Report Deployment Settings. There was an entry for "PurchPurchaseOrder.Report" design.

After I have deleted this entry, the deployment of the report PurchPurchaseOrder resulted the deploying all the 3 designs on the Report Server.

After which I have did revert the things by creating the entry for PurchPurchaseOrder.Report" design in the Report Deployment Settings form.

Daniel, I read the documentation but not very clear. If you dont mind, can you brief me what was the issue?

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb
