Security access for Azure app Owner

Hi All,

We have hired 3rd party company to do reporting for us as PowerBI and BYOD isn't working well for us.

I have created Azure app and give it permission to D365 (UAT) too. Connection is working well and 3rd party can consume data too.

3rd party company are currently setup as system admin in UAT and they have been provided credentials for initial setup.

i am concerned as 3rd party company has system admin access to our ERP.

is there any workaround or best practise to control this access?

I have the same question (0)

Without knowing any details about what they need to do in the system, it's hard to give very detailed comments.

But I think it's good to separate the setup of the solution, and usage of the solution.

You could do the setup together with them, or give them admin access only for a limited time. And I assume they don't need admin privileges to actually do the reporting.

    Hi Nikolaos,

I have tried different ways but it seems that user needs system admin access in Dynamics (Even if user is owner for Azure App).

3rd party company is collecting data through OData.

They see below error when user does not have system admin access in Dynamics.

If they need to read CustCustomerV3Entity, the user needs to have access to that entity.

But the user doesn't need to have System admin access.

    Hi,

perhaps there's some bug, or something that you missed. I think your original question seems answered, and now you have this specific new issue with one entity and the related privilege. May I suggest that you post a new question since it's clearly a different topic than what was discussed here. And if your original question is ansewered, please mark the helpful answer(s) as verified. Thanks!

    Hi YOG,

On the privilege, you can also set explicit Table permissions. Can you try to add the view HcmEmployeeEntity and grant access rights?

    Hi Andre,

    that did not work too.
