How to export entities from Dynamics 365 Fo to on-premise SQL server

Hello everyone.
I am trying to export entities from Dynamics 365 Fo to a local SQL server. I have a computer that I rented in Azure, and this computer has a SQL server. What I am trying to do is export the entities as tables into my own database on the local server. I tried searching the internet but did not find a clear answer.

Thank you.

    Hi,

To be able to access a database server on a local VM, you would need to use some middleware. This could be using e.g. Logic Apps with an on-premises data source. Connect to on-premises data sources - Azure Logic Apps | Microsoft Learn
You can also check for an ISV solution, like Connectivity Studio from To-Increase. This solution also has the option to connect to local SQL servers.
You can also try to write your own middleware by using some Azure technology being able to connect with on-premises applications, like Azure Service Bus.

    Hy,
as Andre said you need any kind of secured Data Gateway on the local resource to get access to the local SQL Server.
Instead of local SQL Server you could also use a Azure SQL Server. D365F&O can directly write to Azure SQL Server using the BYOD feature within the Data management. So you can expose all entities.

    Hope this helps.

Will the data extraction method through Azure Logic Apps, which relies on the Azure gateway, allow me to Export entities from D365 to a local SQL Server?

Yes, you can create a flow that reads data from Dynamics 365 F&O or via virtual entities and write it to on-premises gateways. There are blogs available talking about these connectors using Logic Apps.

    Hi,

    A few suggestions:
    1. You will face some hassles while pushing data onto a box that hosts SQL Server DB. The suggestion is to setup an On-Premise Dynamics 365 FO VM (hosted on an Azure subscription) or download a Virtual machine from Shared Asset Library in Dynamics Lifecycle Services , setup a local server DB and push the data through the Bring Your Own Database approach (BYOD).
    2. You can either use Azure Synapse for D365 FO and have your virtual data entities pushed into a MS Fabric layer through the Dataverse platform.

If all the above options are not feasible then all you can do is have the data entities pushed into a Blob storage in Azure as .csv files and have the data pulled into an On-Premise SQL Server database through an On-Premise gateway or through a SSIS package, which will be more of an effort.
