According to docs.microsoft.com you can now produce a PDF of a Quote, or email a PDF of a Quote from Sales. This is something we have been waiting for for years and have built a Flow to manage in its absence.

However, even after implementing the functionality as per the instructions in the link, when selecting either the Create or Email as options you get the message: No Options Available.

Does this mean we need to build a template or something? There are no other instructions in the docs.

On a second point, if this does work for Quotes, could we have this for Orders and Invoices too please?!

The PDF functionality for the Quote relies on the Dynamics 365 Word Templates. These templates are located under Settings>Document Templates. When you create a new Word template, you will be prompted to choose an Entity for the template to be associated with. You would need to choose the "Quote" entity. Once this is saved, then you should see these as options under the Create a PDF and Email a PDF.

Hi Aaron,

I started to go throught that process but my colleague in another company who told me about this function did not have to create a template. Also, when we tried it on a trial version, no template creation was needed either, the functionality was all there.

Strange...

Hi Ian,

My suggestion may be outdated but may be useful for some other person.

If you click on the "Create PDF" OR "Email as PDF" and it says "No options Available".

All you need is go to the Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement and Select the Settings and Templates and Document Templates.

There you need to create a new Template and upload it.

I can't believe how poorly this is implemented. We have started testing Dynamics for Sales, and after using HubSpot I honestly expected this functionality to be basic. There is no simple way to add our company logo to outgoing business documents, and there is no standard field to add the customers' VAT number. That you can't create a standard legal sales document out of the box is ... insane... (I needed to rant).

Any ways, I have been looking at this for almost a day now. I am set up as an Administrator on Dynamics for Sales, but when I go to the document templates section I see the following error message: "Read-only: You don't have access to edit Document Templates."

Where do I go to fix this?

Enable it from Sales Hub and check it in the Sales App.

It is already enabled. The problem is that the pdf-file doesn't include all the information that is required. For example the Line Description field is empty, there is no company logo, and no where to enter the customers' VAT-number.
