Hi, did you resolve this issue ? I have the same problem, can't activate Mpos, and there's that error in RetailServer.

Your URL is wrong, it's not

    http://MachineA:88/RetailServer

    or

    https://MachineA:44308/RetailServer

    But

    http://MachineA:88/RetailServer/v1/$metadata

    or

    https://MachineA:44308/RetailServer/v1/$metadata

Then it should work ;) let me know

Thanks Slim.  The address now works in a web browser but when trying to activate the modern POS device I'm receiving "An error occurred while communicating with the server."  In the event viewer it shows "Package Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.Pos.Beta_6.3.164.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe+App was terminated due to low system resources."

    Any ideas?

Hey Mark, you welcome. To activate your POS I think you should use this URL :

    machinea/.../v1

    or

    machinea/.../v1

If it still doesn't work, download fiddler to see what request are sent and what response you get, check if the error happens when the request is sent to http://<server>:<port>/RetailServer/v1/LogOn or http://<server>:<port>/RetailServer/v1/ActivateDevice

    Hope this helps!

    Hi

While installing modern POS, after all the prerequisite validations have went through, including the activation link, the installer throws an error and does not complete the installation

The error says "There is a problem with the installer package. A program run as part of the set up did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I downloaded a fresh version of R3 installer and tried but still throws the same error.

    1) machine2/.../v1$metadata downloads a file. but when opened using a notepad, there is nothing in it. How do i test whether the retail server webservice is running fine and configured correctly? The channel profile validation succeeded correctly.

    2)  The environment here is AOS/Async server/async client/RTS/Retail Server is in Machine 2. The respective, AX DB, Channel DB, server & client message DB is in Machine 1 and Modern POS is in Machine 3, Windows 8.1 desktop. All the three machines are in domain.

    3) Should I try to install using power shell script?

    Hi Jinu

There is a bug in the embedded installer. I would suggest installing the RS using PowerShell, have a look at the following blog:

    http://axbuzz.blog.com/?p=45

Make sure you update the rs-setting.xml file correctly, also you will need to create a folder in >>> C:\Windows\System32\RetailServerWebSiteWorkingFolder\RetailServer and insert the web.config file to be able to deploy the RS correctly.

We are also facing error related to Modren POS.

Did you add the MPOS and the user in the devices before trying activation? ( In Retail > Settings > Devices ) After that run the 9999 job to push the data to your retail channel.

Also check the user you're using, maybe that one doesn't have the right to sign in.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi

Here are a few things to make sure of before trying to activate MPOS again.

    - Make sure you have assigned MPOS with a register, this register should have an MPOS visual profile and screen layout.

-Make sure the user is assigned to the associated store, they have an MPOS layout associated to their worker and that they have sufficient POS permissions to 'Manage devices'.

-In the 'Devices' form in Retail>Setup - Make sure you have the correct register number, device ID and application profile before activation.

    All the best

    James
