How to manage our distributor's customers as well as now distributor customers

Our company is expanding into to Europe to concentrate on large scale distributors. We want to be able to track sales to the distributors as well as the customers they sell our materials to. How can this be set up so that both business units have a visual of these type customer? Each business unit will have different functions and product pricing

I have the same question (0)

    Hi partner,

You mean, you want to define a tag associated with distributors for customers that purchase through these distributors, so that they can be distinguished from other customers, right?

The way to associate records is nothing more than entity relationship or Connection.

    1. If a customer can only be purchased by one distributor, then you can create a 1:N relationship between distributor and customer.
    2. If a customer can be purchased by multiple distributors, then you can create an N:N relationship between distributor and customer, or create Connections.

    1. If you focus on the associated records rather than the "association" pipeline, that is, the relationship does not require fields to explain, then I recommend that you use a 1:N or N:N relationship.
    2. If you pay more attention to the "association" of the pipeline and you need to add fields to describe it for this connection, then I recommend you to use Connection.

RE: How to manage our distributor's customers as well as now distributor customers

We are expanding to Europe with a concentration on partnering with distributors as well as promoting and selling our materials. We will want to keep track of any customers that purchase through these distributors so that others sales members are not pursuing them through other means.

My first thought was to use connections or perhaps have the distributor as the parent company of the customers.

Then, I though there has to be another way.

    Hi,

It depends on number of factors. I assume you have defined Distributors as Accounts in CRM and you log sales as (Opportunities/Sales Orders).

When you say you need to track customers (of Distributors), do you need to track individual transactions done with these customers (by distributors)? If you just need a track of customers, you can maintain them as Accounts in CRM (type=Customer). But then you might not be able to share it within BUs (depends on your current security model).  Another idea is to log these customers in a custom entity and allow all users read privileges.

Let me know if it makes sense, feel free to discuss further.

    Best,

    Wahaj
