<meta> tag automatically getting added when trying to deploy html file

Hello guys,

I really need some help on an issue am currently having. I am working on a CRM 2016 On-Premise instance. One of our developers made some changes to a HTML web resource and it broke the page. So am trying to rollback the change to the previous version. Am copying the file and pasting it to the corresponding web resource in CRM and for some reason it is not making the change.  The header part is automatically adding a <meta> tag!.

So the HTML file which I want to deploy contains the following head tag:

<html><head></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word;">

...source code.

When I copy paste the above file in CRM Web resources, there is automatically a <meta> being added . So after copy pasting it, it looks like the following :

<html><head><meta></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word;">

...source code

Due to this the page continues to be broken. This is very irritating and I just want to fix this asap. How can I fix this?
