Access Enterprise Portal via Public IP

Hi Guys,

My client already has a public IP address that allows us to remote to their AX2012R3 AOS server, we have already setup everything including the Enterprise Portal (also inside the AOS server).

My client wants the Enterprise Portal to be accessed directly via the public ip address of the said aos server something like: "http://<public ip>:<port>/sites/dynamicsAX"

Is this possible? FYI I have already done the setup for EP with the Forms-Based authentication located from this site: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/hh575253.aspx

If this is possible, can you please provide me some instructions on how to do this?

Yes, it's possible, but it's not something that us as AX developers would normally do. This is the task of the infrastructure team at the client. Basically you need to expose (open on the network's gateway) the port on which you have created the EP site.

Hello, Lulian, Apologies for my late reply. If the infrastructure team is able to to expose the port, do I need to do some setup in the Enterprise Portal?

Hi Lulian, I have requested the client to open up the port. Will give you feedback once done. Thanks for your suggestion

    Hi Ron,

    Good Day!

I have the same problem. Have you configured the enterprise portal using the public IP?

    Regards,

    Mark

    Hi Ron,

If everything is setup accordingly regarding the EP and ready for access, the client's network administrator (or someone that can set it up) or one in your team needs to setup the Port Forwarding in the Firewall of your client. Port Forwarding will open the access from the Internet (Public IP Address) to the Intranet (Internal Network) of your client.

Requirement for this is a Firewall Appliance/Software that can be setup to allow NAT in the Network such as Cyberoam UTM.

    It is something like this:

    External IP: <Public IP Address> ex. 10.10.10.2

    Mapped IP: <Internal IP Address> ex. 192.168.1.200

    Physical Zone: LAN

    Port Forwarding:

    External Port Type: Port

    External Port: 4433

    Mapped Port Type: Port

    Mapped Port: 80

You can access your EP by https://10.10.10.2:4433/sites/dynamicsAX

The sample above is from Cyberoam UTM.

I hope this help you or someone.

    Hi Ron,

I faced same problem with you and found the answer through this link.

    community.dynamics.com/.../140742

In my case, the Enterprise Portal only could accesed through hostname (hostname/.../dynamicsax).

Before try to access this Enterprise Portal via IP public, first thing that I do is try to access it via local server IP address (192.168.1.2/.../dynamicsax).

You could do it through SharePoint Central Administration.

In SharePoint Central Administration, select Application Management > Configure alternate access mappings.

You could add your local server ip address there. Select "Add Internal URLs" and then put your local server IP address on the provided textboxt.

After that, I could accessed my Enterprise Portal via local server IP address (192.168.1.2/.../dynamicsax).

The next step is try to make the Enterprise Portal accessible via public IP.

To make this happen, first you should set the intranet and internet address in "Edit Public Zone URLs" menu. Fill the intranet textbox with your local server IP address and internet textbox with your public IP address.

Last things you should do is make port forwarding in your router so traffic that go to your public ip will forward to your local server IP address.
