Significant increase in DataverseSearch storage consumption

In the past few days we noticed that the tag on "Top Database capacity use" changed from "RelevanceSearch" to "DataverseSearch".

This change caused the database usage of this table to increase by roughly 4 times it's prior usage.

Has anyone seen this or know what's happening?

Hey.

The namechange is documented on https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/configure-relevance-search-organization?tabs=new#how-can-i-find-out-how-much-storage-dataverse-search-consumes.

The increase on the size might be related to many things. However, the first thing to check is removing tables that are not required. The second thing would be to remove undesired Fields. Also, please be aware of cases that contain large text (Emails, notes, etc) since instead of saving the text, they're saved as HTML which might include several HTML Tags increasing the size.

I received this information from opening a ticket about the issue:

"Dataverse Search is being enhanced to include both relevance and semantic indexes, which will improve search quality and AI experiences across various Power Platform features. This update was previously scheduled to increase storage consumption but was paused. It will now automatically enable enhanced search starting July 7th, 2025."

Thank you. I will try reducing size via e-mail and notes. That makes sense.
