Fixed Dimension field

Hi,

I created a document service with a table that contains a default dimension field and a fixed dimension field. When I include the fixed dimension field in my service then I am not able to import data via Excel into Dynamics AX. (The error message says: "The data source MainAccountLegalEntity field Fixed Dimension's field type is an unsupported type DimensionEnumeration"). If I exclude the fixed dimension field and specify a default dimension value everything works fine.

Does anybody have an idea what went wrong?

Ludwig

check AxdAdvancedLedgerEntry class as an example for your service.

you might be missing some of the method related to ledger dimension or type on the field of table is not correct.

I remember I couldn't find the supporting feature so I do a bit of code to support fixed dimension import

Hello Tony, Could you possibly share that code? Ludwig

I done the code changes on last year so it was sometimes ago. But conceptually is not really difficult.

Firstly, you have to define a new field to accept the Fixed dimension as No Yes and the segment should match the financial dimension. If the financial dimension segments are eight then fixed dimension should be the same.

Then, there is an existing financial dimension method which generate the financial dimension. So, you can add a new custom code to create the additional records in one of the financial dimension table (I can't recall the name now but it's a table that store segmented values for Base enum type). You can refer to the Financial dimension blog.

Hello Tony, Many thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, my development skills in Dynamics AX are quite limited and I am not able to create the code adjustment you mention myself. I would thus be happy if you could find and possibly share your code example for the whole MS community that you used in the past. For me this is the only possibility to get this issue fixed. Many thanks for your understanding and best regards, Ludwig
