I am looking for a report that will give me all the sales by Salesman showing the profit margins
per invoice

You could try the 'Period Sales Analysis Report' (Sales-Reports-Analysis)
This report gives you sales, returns, cost, gross profit, profit margin, writeoff, discounts taken, etc. You can run it in a variety of ways too!

If you have got a specific report template, share it and we can definitely provide a customize SQL script accordingly.

This report is good for an overall look but I need to drill down to the item level per invoice !!!

What ae you asking for? I responded to the post in regards to 'Period Sales Analysis Report' !!
You could use smartlist. Sales transactions would work and Sales Line items would be good too. Smartlist does have quantity, extended cost, extended price, unit cost, unit price and salesperson info. You might have to add a few fields (admin - smartlist). Play with it and check out all the fields available. Then you could dump it into excel and format it from there.

Profit Margin is not an available add on
You could create a field - smartlist designer or in excel
As I do not have access to Smartlist Designer I had to export info into Excel and make my own list.
