Dynamics Navision 2013 Licensing methods

Hi there,

Yesterday, I installed a new license on  Navision server. I don't know how to call it.

I call it named user license. If there are five users in the license, I can only create seven user in Navision.

It is different from what I used before.

I used concurrent user license before, I can create unlimited users as I want, but only licensed users can log in the system at the same time.

I searched a lot on internet but didn't find any information about named user license.

Can you share the introduction of named user license to me if you have.

I want to know what's the difference from concurrent license, and what's the limitation of named user license.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply. It is useful to understand license.

But it is still not clear to me.

Let me use another way to express my question.

How Many type of Microsoft Navision 2013 license? what's the difference of each type.

In another way, How Microsoft charge customer if they decide to use Navision 2013?

RE: Dynamics Navision 2013 Licensing methods

    Hi Jerome,

Microsoft Dynamics NAV  offers two types of access licenses : Concurrent Client Access Licenses

(CALs), only available under the Perpetual Licensing model, and User Subscription Access Licenses

(SALs), only available under the Subscription Licensing model.

    Concurrent CALs

Concurrent CALs are based on the number of users accessing the solution simultaneously.

    • While this access license type allows an unlimited number of individuals to be defined in the system, the number of individuals accessing the solution at any given time may not exceed the total licensed number of Concurrent CALs.
    • Concurrent CALs are assigned temporarily to an individual user for the duration of their active session.
    • Once that individual ends the active session, the CAL then becomes available for use by another individual.
    • Concurrent CALs license individual users to access the application only while they are consuming one of the Concurrent CALs (making it unavailable for other individuals to access the application) .

    User SALs

    • User SALs, only available in the Subscription Licensing model, grant individual users the right to access the application irrespective of the number of users simultaneously accessing the application.
    • Unlike Concurrent CALs, a unique User SAL must be assigned to each individual user that will access the solution functionality.
    • SALs are specific to an individual and cannot be shared.

    I hope this helps :)

    Hi

Is this your Licence summary? Can you please be more specific.

RE: Dynamics Navision 2013 Licensing methods

Yes, It is my license summary.

    Sample 1 is develop license.

I use the sample 1 to develop application. Before put  on production, I changed license to sample 2. But the number of users is  more than 5. Navision says it only allow 5 users to log in system.

Then I delete some users and left only 3 users. In that case, I should allowed to create  two more users. But I can't create any user. It says I don't have permission to execute CodeUnit integration function.

If I switch to license sample 1, I can create user again. So it is not permission issue. It is limited by license.

So I want to know what limitation these summary means.

    5005150 Payables - Issued Delivery Reminders                          1

    5005190 Inventory - Physical Inventory Documents                   1

    8100 Codeunits (10)                                                                     20

    8200 Tables (10)                                                                          10

    8350 Pages (100)                                                                        100

    8400 Reports (100)                                                                     100

    8750 XML Ports (100)                                                                 100

RE: Dynamics Navision 2013 Licensing methods

    Hi

    I'll explain with example

    8100 Codeunits (10)                                                                     20

here 10 means by default 10 codeunits can be created

Amount 20 means according to the licence 10 +10 =20 codeunits can be created

    8350 Pages (100)                                                                        100

Here 100 means the default available is 100 and according to the licence only 100 can be created.

similar applies to the other objects
