Realtime workflow, prevent changing a field value?

Hi,

I don't know if it's possible, but Im trying to setup a workflow to prevent the user from changing a field value, when the record status is "completed" (Option field).

I cannot figure out how to do it. Ex. field is a end/time field.

The only way the user should be able to change the value in the field, is if it's marked with a two option field, set to Yes.

I do not wan't to use business processes. Since the record change is performed from another entity. So I need a realtime workflow, that will return cancelled, if the field is changed without first marking the chexbox to "yes"

you should be able to do this in real time workflow. In real time workflow step check the status of the record and if its in completed status then add a step "stop workflow" with  status cancelled that will stop update of the record. Also make sure you trigger this workflow on change of the field that you want to prevent update.

Set properties value to show right message to user.

Thanks for your answer. But by doing this it seems like no fields can be changed. It doesn't only include protection for the 2 "on change" fields..

Did you select only fields that you want to prevent from update in "record fields change" set properties

Yes I did exactly like you describe. Only selecting the 2 fields that the user cannot change. But the workflow is activated if the user change other fields in the record?
