Implication for Changing Lot ID behaviour to follow AX2009 behaviour

Hi

Is there any implication to currect AX2012 behaviour or structure, if i want to change Lot ID behaviour in AX2012 to follow AX2009.

Example, LOT ID  in inventory transaction will be display the same sequence number for posting status sold or purchased but,

in AX2012, it will display different sequence number.

Since we are deploying electronic data interchange (EDI) with our principal, it will be troublesome for us if we cannot change the behaviour to follow AX2009.

Please advise.

    Hi Junaid

Thank you for sharing the information on the LOT ID.

Honestly, we have a few entities/organization that just upgrade to AX2012 from AX2009, which are those entities does not have EDI integration and no issue on LOT ID.  Only one entity that require EDI

    integration, and facing this issue.

Does Reference Lot ID will have same behaviour as Lot ID because we didnt use that column, since AX2009

    Hello ItServices,

I personally will not suggest to play with Lot ID because Lot Id is the unique transaction ID that every inventory transaction will have generating from Purchase Order line, Sales order line, Inventory journal line so you have to put solid control mechanism at all the places to avoid any duplicate LOT ID.

One more thing i would like to highlight, apart from LOT ID, we also have REF LOT ID when we use marking option so for example: When a sales order line is marked with a purchase order line, system generates ref lot ID to relate the transaction.

In addition to that we have return lot id as well.

Did you considered all these scenarios in your EDI integration.
