SSRS Problem on printing Barcode Labels on Continuous Paper

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

Dear All,

I am trying to print the barcode labels on a continuous paper. It was supposed to be printed in a portrait manner but ends up landscape. I believe this is because of the Height and Width set in the SSRS report design. May I know how do I fix this.

I am using the barcode printer, Datamax-O'Neil.

Hope to hear from you,

Lyka Tasis

    Hi Lyka,

In the report design view, click "outside" of the report area. Then check the properties.

Hi Dominic, I am aware that I have to set the width and height of the paper. In this case, the paper is continuous, thus I won't be able to define the height. Should I define the height of the barcode stick, it will revert from portrait to landscape because the height is lesser than the width.

I am wondering how the rest of you implements this kind of scenario.

    Thanks, Lyka

what type of barcode labels are you printing? Are they not standard labels that you would use label rolls? Check that the printer properties itself you can often hard code portrait right there (I do this for AP check prints sometimes for finicky printers)

You could also make your report a minimum height so that the smallest label still has height greater than width......you could also create a variable in code, based on records returned and increase the 'standard' size with each row....the variable would set the height to minimum needed to print portrait each time, and then just increase a bit with more rows returned.

just imagine the width of barcode as 5cm and length as 2cm

Now to make it potrait you need atleast 3 barcodes per page.

Take the page height as 3 * 2 .barcode length which is greater than 5.Set this as interactive page size settings.

Had this problem with rolling dot matrix cheque printer , applied with the logic of having 3 cheque per page , to set the orientation to potrait and also print continuos cheques. Since cheques had pre-printed format where the words and numbers are to be aligned, had a problem printing every 7th cheque correctly. But this logic might just work for you.
