Warehouse \ stop FIFO (First In First Out)

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello

Our company is using quite old version of Dynamic NAV 5.0. We plan to update it. My question is related to Warehouse \ stock functionality.

I will explain our situation:

We have an item Item01 that we store on warehouse bin let say A001. We produce a lot of item01 and the differences between each other is batch number. So the item name is always the same item01 but different batch numbers. Afterwards very often happens that the same item item01 with different batch numbers is stored on the same bin A001.

Our current version of the system can show only one date on a bin therefore from system point of view we loose full traceability make FIFO not working.

Example:

Phisically

Bin / Item / Quantity / Batch / Production date

A001 / Item01 / 100 ML / P10/025455 / November 2010

A001 / Item01 / 500 ML / P15/002222 / May 2015

A001 / Item01 / 5000 ML / P16/000542 / january 2016

System point of view

A001 / Item01 / 5600 ML / Last recipe date = January 2016

With such info I don't know we have November 2010 on A001 so we release January 2016 (FIFO don't work).

QUESTION:

Does the new NAV version let say 2015 allows to handle above mentioned situation, so to separate the same item code on the same location per batch number, allowing in the same time full traceability of production date and making FIFO work?

Thank you.

If you use serial numbers, you should be able to see the lots differently.
