Hi,
I have a batch job for a change based alert (with no expiration date) that goes to status "Cancelled" all the time. Anyone knows potential reasons for this?
The result is that the user doesn't receive the email alert when the change happens where the alert is established. This used to work fine but since a couple of months back it stopped working. I'm trying to figure out why the batch job status gets cancelled.
Hi CapsLock,
There should be Cancelled by field on General tab, do you see it? Do you see user id here? Maybe it was canceled by the user intentionally.
Hi Sergei,
Thanks for your prompt response. I checked the General tab and it was cancelled by the AOS. In that general tab I also saw that the user ID assigned to the batch job is a user that is no longer in the company. Can that be the reason?
I'm not sure. But it's best practice to create batch job using admin or dedicated batch account. You can try to create new batch job under this kind of account and check if it works.
What do you mean when you say "using admin"?
The user who created the alert had admin rights assigned at the time of alert creation.
Should I log in to AX with special account and create the alert from there? Is that even possible?
There is an account in users form with user Id = "Admin". You can use that one if you don't have a dedicated account for batch processing user.
Hi Sergei, thanks again for your response. I see the user "Admin" in the list of users. How do I assign this to myself?. I see also in this post below that this is something that shouldn't be done very often but I guess this is one of those occasions when you should use it:
Only use the AX Admin account, like your Domain\Administrator account, for emergency and/or extreme maintenance and never on a daily basis.

Also, once I have the Admin user and I go to system admin > Inquiries > Batch jobs. I click on File > new and create a new batch job under the Admin user. How do I link this batch job with the change based alert?
You can't assign it to yourself, you need to find login and password for admin (you can check alias name on the user form, it's AD user name) or check internally if you have a batch dedicated account in AX.
When you get admin user (or batch account) and successfully log in to AX, you need to go to System administration - Periodic - Alerts - Change based alerts and set up batch processing from there (check batch group and recurrence from old job).
