Hello,

might be a trivial question, but I could not find a conclusive answer. Can you please explain to me the difference between the environment-ID and organization-ID?

Thank you for your help, kind regards

Joao

RE: Difference between environment and organization ID

    hey Joao

There are 2 important things here.

    1) OrganizationID was the reference before Dataverse.  However, as Dataverse (and PowerAutomate, PowerApps, Virtual Agents, etc) and a more holistic (Business app) approach took place, the Environment (and EnvironmentID) was necessary to bring together all functionalities..

    2) Currently, you can create an environment without a database in PPAC.  With this, you can have an environmentID, but no database and no OrganizationID.  However, if you provision an environment with a DB, it will have an organization ID.

    Regards,
