Financial chart in the role center

Posted on by 105

I would like to set up a financial chart in the role Center. The chart shows the daily status of our bank accounts in stack colums (y-axis). On the x-axis it shows the status of the last five days (-1D...-5D).

In the diagramm setup I set the start- and enddate for the cart. How can I teach NAV to change the date everyday into the actual date?

Thanks in advance.

    according to your link:

"There is no SERVERDATE funciton in Navision. The only way to emulate such a function, whould be to add a field in a setup table to store server date, and use a routine on the server to update this each day at midnight."

That's an old thread, is there really no form of the TODAY() function in NAV in current versions?

I tried searching on "SYSTEM" and "SYSTEM function"...absolutely zero results.

How would I bring up a help screen from within NAV on dates and related functions?

    Hi Raokman,

While you are in the Functions list, you have an option on the bottom of the screen "Paste Parameters" and if it's selected, upon clicking OK, the parameters will be pasted in the code as an inline string (those functions defined in the code).

If you want to know the parameters of SYSTEM functions (TODAY, WORK etc., you may very well get those from the NAV help.

    Best Regards,

I haven't tried this myself, but it sounds like something basic we'll probably want to do in the future.  But no answers????

In Excel you would just use the TODAY() function with the columns then becoming TODAY()-1, TODAY()-2...

There's nothing similar in basic NAV?

Which brings up another, probably stupid question:  how can I get function help? In Excel, you press F1, or you get prompted as you enter a function (needed parameters, order of variables...).  How do I get help in NAV for something like date functions and calculations?  Entering "Dates" or "Date Math" or "Date calculations" doesn't get you anything useful. Do you have to be in an actual date field?  What if, like here, you just want to know generally, how dates and related functions work in NAV?  From NAV, without going through a 15 minute youtube video or other non-NAV source/book?

Yes, I want to update the enddate into the Navision server's date.

    Hi daveadm,

Do you mean that the enddate needs to updated everyday based on the Navision Server or client user's machine?

    Best Regards,

    MMV
