    Hi Mahesh,

It should not take that long. I ran it so many times in AX 2012 R2 and feature pack and it completed successfully. I can't recall it takes this much time. I assume this is not the production environment, you can kill the AX client session, open it again and try to run the cross reference with fewer options to see if it is completing or not.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Mahesh,

It is a quite long durating task which usually takes hours to complete. Like Baber I have not experiences this long duration time. Only when using a virtual machine with lack of resources.

If you need to have it only for the data model to show e.g. related tables when using advanced queries, then you can deselect all option, except then option 'update data model'.

Yes we are working in Test environment in a virtual machine instance in server on remote login.

    Hi Mahesh,

As Andre mentioned, try to run the cross reference with fewer options and see if it is completing successfully.

    Thanks,

Yes I tried to run cross reference with fewer options but I don't know how to do it. As I am a beginner to Axapta. I tried to read the MSDN posts related to Cross Reference but I am  not understanding how to run it with fewer options. Please anyone can help how to run it?

    Hi Mahesh,

    Check the following link:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../aa877386.aspx

As Andre mentioned, on Cross reference form, uncheck all the options and just check Update data model and click ok.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi,

i had the same problem. I found a solution in a blog...forgot where. But it worked fine.

Create a job and run this command:

    xRefUpdateIL::updateAllXref(true, false, true);

It took about 12 hours (instead of 16+) without errors.

Beware that the cross reference update interface creates a batch. Therefore, the batch server must be enabled in your system.
