Hi,
After personalizing a page (adding a field, or hiding a button) I can make that personalization available to all existing users.
However, how can I make it available for ALL future users?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Ana Alves.
Hi Ana,
Please confirm if you have enabled SAVED VIEWS feature already? If not please go to Feature mgmt and enable it
This new feature now let's you apply personalization across security roles (unlike old feature that had to be applied per user), so comes quite handy and you can also choose Legal entities as per your requirement. You can find more info about the same, here-
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/fin-ops/get-started/saved-views?toc=/dynamics365/human-resources/toc.json
Once you have enabled that feature, you can save your customized view and publish it to other roles. As soon as it's published, all the future users with that specific role would automatically attain this view.
Please let me know if that helps. Good luck!
Hi Konica,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm trying to remove the button "Hire" when creating an employee/contractor (as you can see in the next image):
The feature SAVED VIEWS is enabled, and I can publish this view for all the existing users whose role is SYSTEM USER.
However, when I add a new user to the system the view is not updated, and he can still see the "Hire" button.
I need to publish the view not only for current users but for users that will be added in the future and that belong to that role
Is there a way?
Thanks.
Hello Ana,
Thanks for your confirmation and detailed reply.
Can you please highlight in your screenshot which field are you trying to hide? Also, please note that if you are creating a personalized view on the form shown above you can't save this view and publish it to other roles. Kindly keep in mind that not all forms or pages can be published to other roles for a simple fact that not all pages support views, therefore you can't create a view out of your customization and hence can't publish or share it with others. This will just be your own personalized view saved for your user.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/fin-ops/get-started/saved-views#what-pages-support-views
You will notice that the VIEW feature highlighted above from Personnel mgmt screen isn't available on Hire slider you showed.
I am almost sure that this specific page can't be customized and shared with other users. This is my finding based on my knowledge and experience!
You can however share a screenshot with the list of security roles that have been granted to the existing users that can see your customized view and the roles granted to new user that has a standard view.. I will try to dig deeper and investigate if anything changed on that form and if we can anyhow manage your requirement.
This is the button I'm hiding (in yellow):
I was able to publish it to system users, as you can see:
However, as I said, only existing users can see this updated view (existing users can't see the button "Hire" anymore). If I add a new user to the system, even if his role is SYSTEM USER, he can still see the button I'm trying to hide.
Thanks for all the screenshots and that's exactly what I was talking about. The approach you highlighted above is the traditional or old one, with which you apply your customized view by exporting and importing view to different users. This approach is time consuming and is not future proof. That's why MS introduced new way of personalization via creating SAVED VIEWS, but unfortunately not all pages can be saved and therefore can't be published to all the roles, that would ensure that all future users with that specific role containing personalization gets the same view automatically.
Since, you want to customize that Hire slider, the only option you have is to go by traditional way with which you need to make sure that every-time new user is registered you need to run all the manual steps to give them this view. Had your requirement been on another page that has VIEW option, I would have suggested to go with the newest approach. I hope this clears all your doubts and confusion.
All the best!
Yes Konica,
It is clear to me now!
Thanks for your help.
You're welcome, Ana! I am glad I could help :)
Kindly verify the suggestion if you think it resolved your query.
Have a nice evening!
