ERP included in Office 365

Will Microsoft ever offer Dynamics AX or any ERP service the same way CRM is offered as part of Office 365? We do not went to maintain our own servers at all. We would prefer to host all of our services online utilizing one system, like Office 365. Is that possible now? Also, we do not want to give our users Windows Live IDs. We would prefer that they use Office 365 logins.

Thank you in advanced.

I like how CRM through 365 uses 365 credentials. I do not want to use a different login for AX. Can I use Windows Azure to maintain the user identity for both Office 365 and AX?

AX uses active directory, and I believe O365 doesn't support any sort of tie with that currently. I heard rumors but no clue if that is in the roadmap.

The other way around, AX supporting O365 logins, I think we'll have to wait and see what happens with the  next version of AX, codenamed "Rainier" which will be a true Azure service. There's no details on what or how Rainier will work with authentication.

Office 365 does support A/D. So that is great. I am going with it on the Windows Azure end. Thanks for the answers.

I just read the article for the next iteration of ERP. I will wait. Thanks again.

Currently AX offers use of Active Directory just as Office 365 uses Active Directory for logins.

So yes you can use that service.

We had the same question in mind when we decided to go for SharePoint migration to Office 365 at our work place.

Only after understanding how AD integration worked with Office 365 we decided to proceed,

    Regards.

    You're replying to a six-years-old thread and I don't think that you're right.

Yes, Dynamics AX uses Active Directory, as Joris said. But Office 365 doesn't use Active Directory - it uses Azure Active Directory instead. You can set up synchronization between the two, but they're two differ things.

The only thing that has changes since 2014 is that we now have the successor of Dynamics AX - Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations - which uses Azure Active Directory instead of Active Directory. Therefore the answer for D365FO is very different than what it was for AX 2012 and older versions.
