Hello! I'm trying to move a LP from one location to another. I want to move all the items within the LP at once. I have the menu item Movement and a work template, but when I scan a LP number, nothing happen. The fields are populated with item nr, quantity, location, description and when I click OK, nothing changes. No error message, no action :) Any idea or any guide on how to set up license plate movement?

Hi,

I tested it on a CU8 that I have access to. I have a Licence Plate with more than one item in a location. I choose the 'Movement' menu item on the hand held. I enter the Licence Plate id, and hit OK. The Location is populated for me.

I enter one of the Items on the Licence Plate, and hit OK. The handheld asks me to enter the Qty. I ignore this, and hit 'Move LP'.

The handheld asks me for the To location, which I enter.

The Licence Plate (and all the items on it) gets moved.

I don't think you need a work template for the 'Movement' menu item. You would only need that if you were using the 'Movement by template' menu item.

Finally I have the CU8 installed too. It works now. Any way to move all the items from a location that is not LP tracked to another location? :)

i agree, this Woks for nomal Movement Item. But for some reason this does not work for "Movement by Template" :( it always wants a item number.

I have a 'Move LP' button when I use movement by template, but I get lots of errors when I use it (such as 'The quantity is not valid' and 'User is not in this warehouse'). Is that what you're seeing?

thoose are exactly the warnings... did you get a work around on this or do i have to move my mixed pallets manually ?! :(

I did not find a workaround. If it were a problem is was having, I would be tempted to log it with MS.... why offer a Move LP button if it cannot be used? But I would set my expectation that there was a 50% chance that I will get told that Move LP was not supported by 'Movement by template'!

I have never logged it with MS. We needed 'Move Mixed Item LP between different Warehouses', and modded something to do this (since Movement only works within a Warehouse).

I read that MS have not yet enabled Movement by template -> Move LP -> Mixed Item LP scenarios. There is this 'Idea' which you can vote up if you want to add your support:

Hello!
We have the same problem now at one of our customers. Do you know if "move LP" with movement by template was enabled for AX 2012 CU13 or D365 FO 8.0 ?
How did you solve the issue with your installations? Did you make a customization to enable it?

Hi Juergen Weber,

The movement by template works in Dynamics 365 V 8.0.

Now there are to options to move a license plate one is normal movement and another movement by template. However only first option works perfectly as while you use the normal movement you get a tab move LP and it moves the complete license plate all at once with all its items to the selected put location. remember you will not be asked any item details in the mobile device which is good.

See the below work in which I moved the complete license plate all at once from one location to another using movement. Movement is the only option where the complete license plate can be moved all at once.

Here you can see there are no items and license plate is updated in the work as it was a license plate movement and not the individual items.

Now the movement by template is not deigned for license plate movement all at once and is meant for the planned movement of the individual items. However if you check the "create movement" check mark in the movement by template option then a work will be created and Dynamics will take the same license plate as the target license plate and you can move the items one by one.

So to conclude if the requirement is to move the complete license plate all at once normal movement is the best option. Movement by template is for individual items movement.
