Production Order

Hi there,

I want to know if it's possible to create different production orders from the sales order's planning line for the main item and the sub-items in the Production BOM.

for example, If I have an item of a Car which have a BOM made up of Engine, Body , Wheels. And there's a separate BOM of an Engine which is made up of Spring, Bearing , Oil etc. Now when I create a production order from the sales order of a car, I want it to create two different production order i-e Car and Engine separately.

Thanks.

    Hi,

Create Multi level production order from sales order planning is not possible but you try with order planning to create multi-level production order.

below is an link as reference

As stated prior, it is not possible to do this from the Sales Order because the demand for the Engine does not exist until the Production Order for the car is created.

It is possible using the Planning Worksheet.  The system tracks a "Low-Level Code" for every Item.  When the Planning Worksheet is being run it starts at the top and works its way down through all the items through all levels in a BOM.  This means it will see the demand for the Car, which creates demand for the Engine.  Therefore you can get a suggestion to make both the Car and the Engine.

Now that you are getting the suggestion to make both, your setup will determine if that becomes two separate Production Orders or if in a MTO environment it can nest the Engine within the same Production Order as the Car (shown as a second line on the Production Order with its own BOM and Routing).

I would highly encourage you to try to use the Planning Worksheet over the Sales Order planning.  You will gain a tremendous amount of flexibility in the way you do your planning.
