Does anyone know if there will be a year-end update for 2023 or was 2022 YE update the last one ever? I still have clients using SL2018 and they are asking if there will be one more update or not. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

SL2018 year-end update 2023

Usually the SL2018 year end update has 1099 and payroll form corrections based on the IRS form specifications for the year. If there aren't any changes to the forms, then a year end update may not be needed if they installed 2022 SL YE update.

I may need to find out if the IRS is making any changes.

There is definitely a 2023 year-end update that will bring systems to 18.6. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-gp/payroll/us-year-end#chapter-1-changes-in-the-year-end-update

However, the update doesn't appear to contain any changes to payroll tax forms or reporting. The article even mentions that 2024 payroll tax updates will apply without going to 18.6.

So to re-phrase your question... What makes the update recommended or necessary?

We are currently on version 18.5.
