HOWTO save COSTCENTER dimension settings and restore these values after Closing year ?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

It is a wellknown issue during fiscal year closing (NAV 5 SP1).

Dim COSTCENTER is MANDOTARY on GL Class 6 and Class 7.

Error like

A dimension used in Gen. Journal Line GENERAL, DEFAULT, ... has caused an error.
Select a Dimension Value Code for the Dimension Code COST CENTER for G/L Account ...

Is it a standard approach to avoid this message and to avoid to change all the DIM settings tT00352 Default Dimensions) on GL Accounts class 6 and 7 ?

Kind regards,

L

This means you have  made dimension value mandatory for COST Center on G/L Accounts. Check the setups.

    Hi there,

well... there is no real standard support, AFAIK. As long as your dimension settings are consistent with all postings, you won't have an issue. In reality this is almost never the case. What you can do:

You could save/export and then delete the default dimensions, do the closing, and afterwards do a reimport. This would work, you need to have exclusive access for the company to avoid unintended side effects.

A different approach would be to close as the entries where posted - by all dimension combinations, regardless of the default dimensions that are currently set. This is what we are selling in our Plexada P/4 BuildingBlocks AddOn. It practically eliminates the issue completely, and you get some bonus features, for example a special gen. journal (non-editable, but you can delete lines) even if you use an additional reporting currency. This can be very handy for a results preview (by dimension combination).

    with best regards

    Jens
