Performance Issue when storing "msdyn_workorders" and "bookableresourcebookings entities

Posted on by 10

Hi All,

I've dropped a performance issue earlier ((1) Performance Issue when storing "msdyn_workorders" and "bookableresourcebookings entities - Dynamics 365 Field Service Forum Community Forum) on which I got a reply that certainly helps or explains but doesn't solve the issue. We also informed Microsoft of this issue but the answer we got from the support group is actually quite disappointing.

"Please, check the below summary:

The conclusion of the Product group is that the saving of the record depends on many factors and as an example we gave the background fields that comes with the work order form and their values, execution of Plugins and other operations.
The 5 seconds is an average value for saving of a workorder which is based on the investigation of the provided example and the total number of the created work orders for the last month."

This holds for an Out-of-the-Box installation of Dyn365 CE Field Service, so no extra functionality, alterations, modifications, plug-ins or whatsoever. 5 seconds (!) (or more) on average for saving a record. This can't be true, can it?

Are we the only ones who experience this and find it unacceptable?

Any community members who experience the same performance?

Thanks for your replies or suggestions.

    Hi Gabriel,

We've added no extra validation or any actions whatsoever. We're talking about an Out-of-the-Box installation.

Adding our own functionality, extra validations or the use of additional plug-ins would likely increase the 5 seconds it already takes to save a workorder.

Maybe some Performance testing & tuning could provide insights in what is ahppening in the background but then again, I suppose the Microsoft Product group has already done that.

    Thanks for your reaction.

    Regards,

The five seconds look like a lot. However, I don't think using the UI takes that much.

I understand what the product team said about the plugin validation and other processes it will trigger.

I think your operation might trigger extra validation, like a field you are using or something with Incident Type etc.

It is tough to help you because we cannot access what happens in the background. But on the other hand, I am used to working with Microsoft engineers on those issues.

    Hi Terpstry,

Why do you need that many work orders? In other words, why are wondering about these 5 seconds? Maybe we can think of a workaround...

If I answer your question then please mark it as verified.

Let me know if I can provide you with more details.

    Thanks
