Parameters for Query Based Reports

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 190

 Hi All,

I am new to building SSRS reports on top of Dynamics AX 2012. I have a report that I am trying to design and this is based on a query. The report requires a parameter and it should be based on "TransDate" so I have added this as range to the query. When ever I ran the report, the report is giving the data based on equal operator. For example, if the input date is 8/1/2012, the report will give all the transactions for 8/1/2012. The requirement for this report is the ability to enter start date and end date or a date range like 8/1/2012..8/31/2012. How to achieve this when source is query based and the report is based on precision design (not an auto design report).

Any help on this greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in Advance!!!!

    Hi,

    Here are a few suggetsions:

If the users are comforable with entering the datestring like 8/1/2012..8/31/2012, you can change the type of range parameter to string at report level and this will allow the users to enter daterange.

    Or

You can do RDP approcah creating a DP class and contract class to handle teh date parametrs, which allows the users to selct daterange

    Or

You should do some code in business logic to handle 2 date parameters which are passed as a daterange to query, but this is least suggested. in Ax 2012.

I am not sure if there is a simple way and if any that is really good.
